Kenneth W. Stewart: 1935-2012
We regret to announce the death of our colleague, advisory board member and friend, Kenneth Wilson Stewart, who passed away on December 9, 2012 in Denton, Texas. Ken was a prolific student of stoneflies and mentor for numerous Masters and PhD students of Plecoptera and other groups at the University of North Texas for many years. In addition to the Illiesia Advisory Board, Ken served on the Standing Committee of the International Society of Plecopterologists and the Editorial Board for Perla. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Plecopterists in 2001. His passing impacts us profoundly, yet we can all draw inspiration from the way in which he lived his life and continued to do the work he loved until the end. A more complete account of Ken’s accomplishments is available on the Society for Freshwater Science website, in the “benthos news” section and a detailed account is also planned for the next issue of Perla. We express our sincere condolences to Ken’s family in their loss and our admiration for a life well-lived.
